General Summary
Responsible for implementing daily routine of at-risk adolescent males or females aged 12-18 and models appropriate behaviors in a variety of settings including education, counseling, group activities and free time. Helps maintain structure within program regarding adherence to schedule, rules and safety policies. Uses approved crisis prevention intervention techniques when necessary. Direct Care Professional has the ability to move quickly, remain calm and provide unconditional care in all situations.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Works responsibly with highly confidential information and maintains composure under duress.
Balances respect, care and discipline for every client while providing oversight, supervision and training of daily living skills.
Must be willing to work effectively with other staff members and as part of a team.
Follows agency procedures to promote optimum safety practices while providing a safe, clean and secure environment for clients.
Communicates well (verbal and written) with all levels of personnel internal and external to the company.
Must be able to generate reports or summaries using prescribed format.
Completes all documentation in a timely manner.
Implements daily routine for each client in the residential program.
Maintains professional relationships with clients, families and caseworkers.
Drives the agency van when necessary, providing safe transportation of client to appointments and activities.
High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum age requirement of 21 years.
Must pass a criminal background check.
Previous experience providing services and support to at-risk youth highly valued.
Valid driver's license from state of residence with a satisfactory driving record as defined by ResCare's vehicle policy and liability insurance carrier required.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
